Why we start with your half-hourly data, not your annual bill

Ask most installers for a quote and they'll start with one number: your annual electricity use, straight off your bill. It's easy to get, and it's almost useless for sizing a system properly.

Here's why. Two homes can use exactly the same amount of electricity in a year and need completely different systems. One draws most of its power in the day — someone home, an office, a heat pump ticking over. The other is dark until 6pm, then everything comes on at once. Same annual total, totally different shape. Size both from that single number and at least one of them ends up with the wrong system.

The shape is the whole story

Your smart meter already records your usage every half hour. That half-hourly data shows exactly when you draw power and how hard — which is what actually determines how much solar you'd use on site instead of exporting cheaply, how big a battery needs to be, and whether the payback stacks up at all.

So that's where we start. We read your real half-hourly data, model how a proposed system would perform against it across a full year, and show you the genuine numbers — generation, self-use, export, payback.

Including when the answer is "not yet"

The honest part: sometimes the data shows a system wouldn't pay for itself in your home, or that you'd be better spending the money elsewhere first. When that's the case, we say so. We'd rather tell you straight than sell you something the numbers don't support.

It's free, and you don't need to go ahead with anything. It's just the right place to start.
